Definition:
  • The heating of the Earth because of increased greenhouse effect is called Global Warming.
Cause:
  • The increased number of people has increased the number of factories, tall buildings, vehicles and electronic appliances on the Earth.
  • For running all of this energy is required which is obtained by burning fossil fuels, natural gas etc.
  • The smoke from this releases a large amount of CO2 which gets accumulated in the atmosphere.
  • CO2 is a greenhouse gas and it increases the amount of the greenhouse effect. This increases the average temperature of the Earth.
Effects of global warming:
  • Global warming will result in the melting of glaciers and ice caps. Water levels in the seas will increase causing excessive flooding. Many small islands can get submerged in water and disappear forever.
