What is 'Green house effect'?

Green house effect is the process by which the earth's temperature is maintained and it is kept warm. When the sun's energy in the form of light reaches earth, some amount is reflected back to and some is absorbed by greenhouse gases. Water vapour, carbon dioxide, methane,nitrous oxide, ozone,and chlorofluoro carbons are the green house gases.
