What is hormonal stimulation?
Hormonal stimulation involves the activities that lead to the maturation of the fish sex cells. The sex cells are artificially expressed from the fish and then treated by the luteinizing hormone. This is done in controlled fish breeding methods.
Hormonal stimulation can be easily understood with the help of an example of super ovulation in cows. For the generation of high milk yielding cows, the mother Cow is administered with FSH-like hormone, which induces follicular maturity and super ovulation. In super ovulation, instead of one egg/cycle, 6 − 8 eggs are produced per cycle. This is termed as hormonal stimulation.
Thus, we can say-When a concentration of particular hormone needs to be increased, it is achieved by injecting stimulating hormones externally and the process is known as hormonal stimulation.
