Cause: High blood pressure is caused when there is constriction in arteries called arterioles. Arterioles monitor the blood flow through our body. As arterioles constrict, the heart has to work harder to pump the blood through the smaller space. Because of this, the pressure inside the vessels grows.
Harm: Hypertension makes the heart work harder to pump blood out to the body. High blood pressure leads to stroke, kidney disease, and to heart failure.
