  1. The hypothalamus is an important part of the diencephalon of the brain.

  3. It is situated below the thalamus which also forms a part of the diencephalon of the brain.

Functions:

  1. Its primary goal is to maintain homeostasis in your body.
  2. It regulates body temperature, appetite, emotions, etc.

Hence, the hypothalamus is a part of the diencephalon which is linked to the homeostatic function of the body.
