What is implantation? When and How does it happen?

Open in App
Solution

Implantation is the attachment of blastocyst on the uterine wall, endometrium. It happens usually after one week or on the 9th day after fertilization. Implantation occurs by the means of an outer layer of the blastocyst that develops a disc-like structure called placenta in the endometrium. Placenta derives nutrition from the mother body and transfers it into the developing fetus.
