Solution

Respiration: It is a chemical process that takes place at a cellular level and produces energy.

Cellular respiration: It is the process through which absorbed food from the blood that enters the various cells of the body are broken down in presence of oxygen to release energy in the form of ATP. This takes place within the cytoplasm and mitochondria of the cell.

Breathing:

  1. It involves the inhalation of oxygen into the body and the exhalation of carbon dioxide from the body via the mouth and nostrils.
  2. It is different from the process of respiration as there is no breakdown or reaction involved in breathing.
  3. It is simply the exchange of gases between the atmosphere and our bodies.
