Interphase is the part of cell cycle when it is not dividing. It is also called the resting phase of the cell. However, the cell is not resting in the real sense of the term. On the other hand, it is metabolically very active and preparing itself to undergo division.
The three significant changes that occur in a cell during interphase are as follows:
(i) Chromatin material duplicates.
(ii) DNA is synthesized.
(iii) The cell increases in size.
