Solution

Joule’s heating effect:

If somehow the electrical circuit is completely resistivity, that is, a resistor design solely attached to the battery, the supply energy is constantly wasted in the appearance of heat. This is referred to as the Joule's heating effect.

According to Joule's law of heating, if heat H is being produced in a wire then

HI2HRHt

Here,

I is current in the wire.

R is the resistance of the wire.

t is the time for which current flows.

By combining all the factors, the heat produced will be:

H=I2Rt(Joule)

Applications of Joule's heating effect in daily life :

  1. The heating effect of current is being used in the operation of electric heating appliances including an iron, oven, room warmers, geysers, and so on.
  2. Electric bulbs make use of the warming effect of alternating current.
  3. Electric fuse uses the heating effect to safeguard residential wiring and electrical gadgets.
  4. During laundry iron, the heating action of electric current was being used.
