Question

What is K in vertex form?

Open in App
Solution

Parabola: A plane curve produced by a point moving in such a way that its distance from a fixed point equals its distance from a fixed-line.

The coordinate of the vertex of a parabola is (h,k)

From the quadratic ax2+bx+c=y, we get the value of h=-b2a

The term k in the vertical form represents the vertical shift in the distance from the graph which is shifted from X-axis, where y is zero.
