Question

What is kinetic energy at infinity?

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Given

Let mass of body = m

velocity of body = v

Step 2: Formula

Kinetic energy = K.E=12mv2 where mis the mass, v is the velocity, K.E is the kinetic energy.

velocity v=drdt

Step 3: Solution

  1. Infinite distance is the distance that is needed to escape out of the body's gravitation.
  2. We know v20=v2given-v2escape where v0willbefinalvelocityofbodyvescapeistheescapevelocityofbodyvgivenistheinitalvelocitygiventobody
  3. If the velocity given to body is equal to escape velocity then KE will be zero.
  4. If the velocity given to the body is greater than escape velocity, then KE will be given by K.E=12mv02.
