leguminous plants are belongs from Fabaceae or Leguminosae, these plants ply important role as they are able to do nitrogen fixation as these plants forms root nodules where symbiotic bacteria(Rhizobia) develop and helps in atmospheric nitrogen fixation i.e. Molecular nitrogen to ammonia, ammonia is then converted to ammonium.

These Plants are rich source of protein.
