Solution

Macrocyclic rust:

  1. Rust having a long or full life cycle is termed macrocyclic.
  2. Macrocyclic rusts are those that generate all five spore phases.
  3. Long-cycled rusts are another name for these rusts.
  4. In autoecious rusts, these spore stages are formed in the same host, but in heteroecious rusts, they are produced on two separate unrelated hosts.

Examples of Macrocyclic rust:

  1. Puccinia graminis represents heteroecious macrocyclic rust.
  2. Puccinia helianthi represents autoecious macrocyclic rust.
  3. Autoecious or heteroecious rusts that lack the uredinial stage are known as demicyclic rusts.
  4. Gymnosporangium juniperivirginiane is a demicyclic rust that is heteroecious.
  5. Gynoconia peckiana, on the other hand, is an autoecious demicyclic rust.
