Question

What is macropinocytosis?

Open in App
Solution

Macropinocytosis:

  1. Macropinocytosis is an endocytic process that helps the body absorb liquids.
  2. It allows viruses from the vaccinia, picorna, and other viral families to enter the cell.
  3. Virus particles induce actin-mediated membrane blebbing and ruffling via activating signaling pathways.
  4. The development of macropinosomes at the plasma membrane occurs after that.
  5. Internalization of viral particles occurs next, followed by virus or capsid entry into the cytosol through macropinosome limiting membranes.
