Question

What is magnetic flux density and it's unit?

Open in App
Solution

Magnetic flux density:

  1. Magnetic flux density(B) is defined as the force acting per unit current per unit length on a wire placed at right angles to the magnetic field.
  2. It is a vector quantity.
  3. Magnetic flux is denoted by “B”.
  4. The SI unit is Tesla(T) or Kgs-2A-1.

Mathematically, this can be represented as:

B=FIL

Here,

L is the wire's length.

F is the total force acting.

I is the current flowing.
