Question

What is magnitude ?
  1. a constant force acts on an object of 5 kg for a period of 10 seconds. If it increases the velocity of an object from 3 metre per second in 7 minutes per second. find the magnitude of the applied force . Now the force be applied for a period of 5 seconds, what would be the final velocity of the object ?
  2. briefly explain what's the magnitude and how we can find it at the chapter we can briefly have the knowledge of this magnitude

Solution

1).Let the Force be F
mass = 5 kg
time(t) = 2 s
initial velocity(u) = 3 m/s
final velocity(v) = 7 m/s
so let the acceleration be a
so a = (v - u)/t = (7 - 3)/2 = 2 m/s²

So the magnitude of the applied force is 10 N

and the final velocity after 5 s is v

so v = u + at
v = 3 + 2 x 5
v = 13 m/s

2).In physics — the study of motion distance, velocity, speed and mass expressed as quantities — is divided between vectors and scalars. A one-dimensional scalar is described by its magnitude alone, while a two-dimensional vector is fully described by its magnitude and direction. Speed is the magnitude of the movement.
