Question

What is magnitude of force?

Open in App
Solution

Force is a vector quantity, so, it has both magnitude and direction. The magnitude of the force is the number that represents the strength of the force.

For example: suppose the force is = 10 N towards the east.

‘towards east’ indicates direction while ‘10’ is the magnitude of the force.

So basically, Magnitude is the ‘value’ or ‘amount’ of any physical quantity. It is always a scalar quantity.
