What is matter. Write three states of water in which it exists.
Matter refers to anything that occupies space and has mass.
The three states of water in which it can exist are:
(i) Solid state- It refers to a state in which particles are tightly packed and it has a fixed shape and volume. For example- ice.
(ii) Liquid state- It refers to a state in which particles are loosely packed and it has a fixed volume but not a fixed shape. For example- water.
(iii) Gaseous state- It refers to a state in which particles are very loosely packed and it has no fixed shape and volume. For example- water vapors.
Thus, water exists in the form of ice, water and water vapor.
