(a) Free fall:
The downward movement of an object, under the influence of the gravitational force of the earth, is called free fall.
(b) Acceleration due to gravity:
The acceleration produced in a body that is falling freely, under the influence of the gravitational force of the earth is called the acceleration due to gravity ‘g’. Its mean value on the surface of the earth is 9.8 ms-2.
