Solution

Active Transport :

  1. It is a mode of transport across the cell membrane which involves the expenditure of metabolic energy.
  2. This energy is obtained from ATP.
  3. It occurs against a concentration gradient i.e., from low concentration to high concentration and so it is also called an uphill transport.
  4. It is unidirectional and takes place only in one direction
  5. It is highly selective, so it selects the materials which will enter the cell.
  6. The cells engaged in active transport show a higher rate of respiration since they need ATP for their transport.
