What is meant by an alkyl group?
An alkane is made up of hydrogen and carbon atoms that are arranged in a tree structure with a single Carbon-Carbon bond.
An alkyl group is formed by removing a Hydrogen atom in an alkane molecule.
An alkyl group is named by replacing -ane in the alkane molecule with the suffix -yl.
Some of the examples of alkyl groups are
Methyl, Ethyl , etc.
