1. It refers to the accumulation of chemicals in an organism that it does not digest but as the trophic level increases, so does the accumulated concentration of the chemical.
2. For example bioaccumulation of heavy metals like cadmium in the liver and kidney increases inside the body of aquatic animals living in water polluted with industrial wastes.
