Question

What is meant by DECAPITATED COLEOPTILE?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

The coleoptiles (A sheath or cap that protecting a young shoot tip in a grass or cereal ) would bend towards the source of water and light. A decapitated root (cut the root end or covered with a tin foil cap) failed to respond to water and light. The tipping of the decapitated root decreases the rate of elongation of the root.
