Definition

The effective resistance of a complicated circuit has been calculated as the measure of the resistance of all the resistors throughout the circuit. The resistors could be linked in either series or parallel.

Formula

Effective resistance in any series connection resistor:

$\mathrm{R}={\mathrm{R}}_1+{\mathrm{R}}_2+{\mathrm{R}}_3+....+{\mathrm{R}}_{\mathrm{n}}$

Effective resistance in any parallel combination resistor:

$\frac{1}{\mathrm{R}}=\frac{1}{{\mathrm{R}}_1}+\frac{1}{{\mathrm{R}}_2}+\frac{1}{{\mathrm{R}}_3}+...+\frac{1}{{\mathrm{R}}_{\mathrm{n}}}$
