What is meant by electrical resistance? State how resistance of a conductor is affected when (I) a low current passes through it for a short duration (ii) a heavy current passes through it for about 30 seconds
The electrical resistance of a conductor may be defined as the basic property of any substance due to which it opposes the flow of current through it.
(i) Resistance of a conductor can be changed only if the temperature of the conductor changes when a low current is passed through the conductor for a short duration there will not be any change in the temperature of the conductor and so the resistance of the conductor will remain same.
(ii) When a high amount of current is passed through a conductor for 30s then it will raise the temperature of the conductor and due to an increase in temperature resistance of the conductor will also increase.
