ELISA stands for Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay. It is a commonly used laboratory test to detect antibodies in the blood. The antibodies in the sample binds to the specific antigen for the disease which is to be detected. There are different types of ELISA test, direct, indirect and sandwich ELISA. The test is commonly used for the detection of the antibodies which are produced against the HIV in the infected person.
