1. Kwashiorkor is an illness or nutritional disorder which is a result of malnutrition in children and babies.
2. It is caused due to the deficiency of protein and other nutrients.
3. The body tissues get filled with fluid causing swelling in the body.
4. Stunted growth, decreased stamina, muscular atrophy, and atypical skin that darkens in inflamed places are among the symptoms of the condition.
5. Another symptom of kwashiorkor is an inflated and protuberant stomach.
6. This can be treated in the early stages by supplementing the diet with enough amount of protein and other nutrients.
7. If left untreated it can cause permanent mental disorder, coma, shock, or stunted growth.
