Solution
Cancer:
An unregulated division of aberrant cells in an area of the body causes cancer.
Normal cells have a feature called contact inhibition, which prevents them from growing out of control when they contact other cells.
This property appears to have been lost in cancer cells.
As a result, malignant cells continue to divide, resulting in tumor-like aggregates of cells.
Tumors are classified as benign or malignant.
Malignant tumors are a mass of growing cells known as neoplastic or tumor cells.
These cells multiply quickly, invading and destroying normal tissues in the process.
Sloughed cells from these tumors travel through the bloodstream to other parts of the body, where they create a new tumor.
Metastasis:
Metastasis is the spread of cancer cells from their original place through the lymphatic or bloodstream to other body parts.
Metastasis is the most feared property of malignant tumors.
