The to and fro motion of an object about its mean position is called oscillation.

  1. From the above figure, we can understand that when the bob is displaced from its mean position (A) then it goes to its right extreme (C) position then it returns to its mean position again.
  2. It goes to left extreme(B) position then come back to its mean position (A). When the bob of pendulum performs one to and fro motion about its mean position then it is called one oscillation of a simple pendulum.
  3. When the bob of pendulum performs one to and fro motion about its mean position then it is called one oscillation of a simple pendulum.
