Question

what is meant by real image-can be touched and virtual image cannot be touched

Open in App
Solution

Real image is formed by the real intersection of light rays either after reflection from a mirror or reflection from a lens , if you put a screen at the point of intersection of these reflected or reflected light rays you will find that actual light intensity is falling on the screen , that's why we say that real image can be taken on screen (or can be touched ) . But in case of virtual image there is no real intersection of light rays but the rays seems to intersect at a point . Now if you put a screen at this point no light intensity will fall on the screen as there is no light actually at this point , and we say that virtual image can not be taken on the screen .
