Open in App
Solution
Instructions
:
First define a scale and highlight the need of a scale with the use of an example.
Solution
:
Scale:
Scale is the distance between two points on the map to the actual distance between two points on earth.
The reduction in the size of the actual region according to the fixed ratio while mapping is called scaling down.
For example : 1 cm distance on a map is equal to 100 km on real earth.
Purpose:
Maps cannot be drawn equal to the original size of the earth, because the distance on earth is vast.
We can't create maps based on original measurements.
