Open in App
Solution

Instructions :
First define a scale and highlight the need of a scale with the use of an example.

Solution:
Scale:
  • Scale is the distance between two points on the map to the actual distance between two points on earth.
  • The reduction in the size of the actual region according to the fixed ratio while mapping is called scaling down.
  • For example : 1 cm distance on a map is equal to 100 km on real earth.
Purpose:
  • Maps cannot be drawn equal to the original size of the earth, because the distance on earth is vast.
  • We can't create maps based on original measurements.
