Stationary phase in chromatography is the one which does not move with the sample whereas mobile phase in chromatography is one which moves with the sample.​ ​
Example: ​ In Paper Chromatography:​ The paper strip acts as "stationary phase" while the solvent act as "mobile phase" in paper chromatography.​
