Sublimation: The process of conversion of a solid substance directly into its vapours on heating and vapour into solid on cooling.
This method of separation is possible only when one of the constituents sublimes on heating and the other substance is left behind as the non-sublimable substance.
sublimate: The solid substance obtained by cooling the vapours .
For example, in a mixture of non-sublimable Sodium chloride and sublimable Ammonium chloride; the pure Ammonium chloride obtained is called sublimate.
