Question

what is meant by 'syncrony in pollen release and stigma receptivity'?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

The release of pollen grains and stigma receptivity is synchronized. This means that these two events take place simultaneously or at the same time.
In case they do not occur at the same time, fertilization does not occur.
If pollen matures before or after the stigma matures, the pollen tube is not formed. Hence, fertilization does not take place.
