Persistence of vision:

  1. The image formed on the retina or the optical sensation created by the incident rays does not get vanished instantly.
  2. It persists there for an instant of 1/16th second even if we stop seeing the object.
  3. This capacity of the human eye to retain the image that is created on the retina is called persistence of vision.

Industrial use:

  1. The method of persistence of motion is utilized in cinematography or motion picture projection industries.
  2. A series of photos are clicked using a movie camera and together these are projected on a screen.
  3. Having the persistence of vision, we can see these pictures run smoothly one after another with continuity of motion.
