Solution

Acid

An acid is a compound that contains Hydrogen ion H+. It can be replaced by a metal or a basic radical.

Dibasic Acid

  • The acid which produces two H+ions is known as Dibasic acid. It dissociates in two steps, so its basicity is 2.

Example

  • Sulfuric acidH2SO4, Carbonic acid H2CO3,and Oxalic acidC2H2O4.

Chemical equation

H2SO4H++HSO4-HSO4-H++SO4-2H2SO42H++SO4-2

  • Sulfuric acid H2SO4 shows two H+ ions.
