Solution
Uricotelism :
The process of excretion of nitrogenous waste in form of uric acid is known as uricotelism.
The organisms exhibiting uricotelism are known as uricotelic organisms.
Uricotelic animals excrete a considerable portion of their nitrogenous waste as semi-solid or solid uric acid.
Birds, terrestrial reptiles (such as lizards and snakes), terrestrial insects, and snails are a few examples of uricotelic animals.
Excretory wastes such as uric acid and its salts have poor water solubility.
The excretion of these compounds in urine can be regarded as a successful terrestrial adaptation.
