The process in which the synthesis of plasma membrane or cell membrane occurs with the help of lipids and proteins and later this synthesised cell membrane divides the cell into two different compartments i.e., structural and functional components is known as membrane biogenesis. The endoplasmic reticulum is responsible for the membrane biogenesis.
