Microscope: It is an instrument which makes a big and clear image of small objects.
Simple Microscope: Simple microscope is also known as Magnifying lens. It consist of convex lens of short focal length.
Principle: It works on the principle that when an object is placed between the focus and optical centre of a convex lens, a magnified virtual and erect images is produced. Smaller the focal length of the convex lens larger is the size of image formed. Eye is kept very close to the lens.
Use: Simple microscope is used to read minute letters to book and to read the scales of instruments, therefore it is also known as reading lens. It is also used to see tiny insects which are not seen by naked eye.
