Given, 49% weight by volume HCl solution

Therefore, weight of HCl in 1ml of solution = specific gravity x 49%

= 1.41 x 49/100

=.6909 g/ml

Weight of HCl in 1000 ml of solution = 0.6909 x 1000 = 690.9 g

Molarity = weight of HCl in 1000 ml / mol.weight of HCl

= 690.9/36.4

= 18.9 M
