Question

What is mole and what is the formula to calculate molecule in the substance

Open in App
Solution

Dear student

In chemistry, a mole is a quantity unit that stands for the amount of a given substance. Since one mole of any chemical compound always contains 6.022 x 10^23 molecules, you can calculate the number of molecules of any substance if you know its massand its chemical formula.

To calculate the number of molecules in ‘x’ grams of a compound ‘s’, we are going to take help of the compound’s molar mass. Firstly, obtain the number of moles of s by dividing x by the molar mass of s.

Number of Moles =( GivenMassofCompound)/(MolarMassofCompound

Then multiply the number of moles of s by Avogadro's Constant 6.022×10236.022×10^23; which is the number of atoms present in 1 mole of a substance. Therefore, you finally have

Number of Molecules= NumberOfMoles×6.022×10^23

Hope you understand
