2. Bhakti movement:- This movement started in south india during the seventh-century AD, spreading from Tamil Nadu through karnataka and maharashtra by fifteenth century, it was established in bengal and northern part of india.The movement emphasised an individual's relationship with a personal god or deity. The core of the movement was that the "moksha", is attainable. It advocated for communal and religious harmony among various religious groups in medieval India through the teachings of sants like Kabir.While the southern movement mainly devoted to shiva,vishnu and his avatars. the northern movement was more centered on ram and krishna, both of whom are believed to be incarnations of vishnu.
1. both these gropus actively participated in Bhakti movement. the Alvars were group of tamil poet-saints. they embraced hindu gods vishnu or his avatar krishna through their religious songs of service and ecstasy. the nayanars were a group of 63 saints in the 6th to 8th century who were mainly devoted to the Hindu god Shiva in Tamilnadu.
