Question

What is a null point in a potentiometer?

Open in App
Solution

Null point in potentiometer:

  1. A null point in a potentiometer is also called a balancing point.
  2. It is the point on the slide wire where the deflection is at zero by the galvanometer.
  3. When the galvanometer detects the current where the deflection is at zero, there will be no current flowing through the cell.
  4. Thus, we can say that zero deflection means no current is flowing through the galvanometer.
