Open in App
Solution

When a solution of potassium iodide(KI) is added to a solution of lead nitrate[Pb(NO3)2] it gives the formation of potassium nitrate(KNO3) and a yellow precipitate of lead iodide(PbI2) is observed at a bottom of a test tube.

Chemical reaction:

2KI(aq)+Pb(NO3)2(aq)2KNO3(aq)+PbI2(s)

Therefore, a yellow precipitate of lead iodide is formed.
