When a small amount of sodium hydroxide is added to a solution of lead nitrate, sodium nitrate is formed and a white coloured lead hydroxide is precipitated, as shown below.
$P b (N O_{3})_{2} + 2 N a O H \to 2 N a N O_{3} + P b (O H)_{2} ↓$
