  • The adsorbed substance on the surface is known as adsorbate and the surface on which the substance is adsorbed is termed as adsorbent.
  • It is a type of adsorption where adsorbate is the gas and metal act as an adsorbent where the gases are adsorbed.
  • The adsorption of a gas on the surface of a metal is called occlusion.

Example

  • Adsorption of Hydrogen (H2)on Palladium metal is an example of occlusion.
