Question

What is out of phase in physics?

Open in App
Solution

  1. Phase is used to describe a specific location in a given cycle of a periodic wave.
  2. It is time-dependent. So, we can say that the relative position of one point on a wave to another point on the same wave is known as Phase.
  3. Phases are of two types- in phase and out of phase.
  4. In Phase, waves are the waves which are 0or360 apart.
  5. The resulting amplitude of in-phase waves is twice the original wave.
  6. Out-of-phase waves are the waves that are 180apart.
What is in phase and out of phase? What is the phase difference? Why do we use the term phase in electrical? - Quora
  7. The resulting amplitude of the completely out-of-phase wave is zero.
