Ozone is formed in the atmosphere; sun rays break the oxygen molecule into oxygen atom which then combines with other oxygen atoms to form a three oxygen molecule, called ozone.
The role of ozone layer is to protect the atmosphere from the harmful ultraviolet rays coming from the sun.
Human activities which cause the depletion of ozone layer -
1) Use of extensive CFCs (Chlorofluorocarbons) in refrigerators, air conditioners.
2) Emission of various gases from industries like NO, S2O, HNO3 which causes air pollution and ultimately deplete the ozone layer.
