What is parturition? Which hormones are involved in induction of parturition?
Parturition refers to the process of delivary or expulsion of the mature foetus from the mother's womb, at the end of the pregnancy period. This is induced by a complex neuro-endocrine mechanism.
Oxytocin hormone from maternal pituitary stimulates strong uterine contractions that leads to expulsion of the baby from the uterus.
