  2. It is a type of involuntary muscular movement that occurs in the digestive system.
  3. It begins with the swallowing of food in the mouth and propulsion throughout the gastrointestinal tract.
  4. These involuntary muscles are the type of smooth muscles which makes up the digestive tract.
  5. Peristaltic movement is the contraction and relaxation of these muscles in the food pipe which brings the food down the pipe and into the stomach.
  6. It is a Zig-Zag movement.
